A note from our pastor. . . .Two thousand fourteen is in full swing and life is as busy as ever, but we must remember life is never too busy to worship our risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As we set the pace for this year, I am reminded of our New Year’s resolution to “Make a Change for the Better.” Change is never easy, but necessary if we are going to continue to grow in our relationship in Christ. For many of us, change is about forgetting the past and reaching forward to the future. The Apostle Paul said, “One thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:13-14). It is inevitable that as we press toward our goals for making a change for the better, we will be confronted with the pressures of life. For this very reason, we will be starting a six-week sermon series called the “Pressures of Life.” We will be looking at how to deal with the pressures of trials, temptation, partiality, words, conflict and retaliation. The New Testament book of James will offer practical instruction as we look for ways to apply God’s infallible word to the pressures of daily life.
If we are going to reach our goals for 2014, we must learn to press into God and allow Him to make a change for the better in us as we confront the pressures of life. I hope you will come and worship with us at Rock Springs Baptist Church.
